Whether you are an experienced vegan or just starting out, these plant-based cookbooks will help elevate your cooking to a whole other level! These cookbooks will provide you with recipes, inspiration, and ideas to make your meals more vivid, colorful, nutritious, and tasty, and expose you to cuisine from all around the world! 😀

1. For Soul & Comfort Food – Sweet Potato Soul

This plant-based cookbook features southern plant-based soul foods including sweet potato pancakes, donuts, salads, sandwiches, and more! The variety in this cookbooks is remarkable and all the recipes I have tried have turned out delicious. The author of this plant-based cookbook, Jenné Claiborne, has an incredible blog (which you can find here) where she shares tips and recipes for a vegan lifestyle, most of which are inspired by foods she had in her childhood living in Georgia.

I also highly suggest reading the introduction in this cookbook as it talks about veganism and nourishing yourself! This is an important part about veganism that often goes unmentioned, but giving your body what it needs and listening to your hunger cues are an important part of healthy living. All in all this is a fantastic cookbook for all people, but I especially recommend it for people who are craving more soul-food type recipes or who want to try southern plant-based recipes!

2. For Beginners – The Plant Based Diet for Beginners

As it clearly states in the title, this plant-based cookbook is great for people with little to no plant-based cooking experience or people who just want quick and easy no-fuss recipes! They have a wide variety of recipes plus a handy-dandy little guide for cooking rice, beans, and veggies, plus a nice shopping guide to get you started. So, if you don’t know how to get started with a plant-based diet or you’re struggling to stick to it, this plant-based cookbook is for you! The crispy rice and bean tostada is my favorite so far but all the recipes I’ve tried have been absolutely incredible 😀

3. For the Aspiring Home Chef – Love is Served

This plant-based cookbook was made by the executive chef of Café Gratitude, a popular plant-based small restaurant chain founded in the Bay Area. The whole premise of Café Gratitude is using fresh organic ingredients to make delicious foods that nourish the body and the soul, and let me tell you, their food is INCREDIBLE! I was so excited to find this cookbook after visiting one of their restaurants and it did not disappoint. I will say that these recipes use some not-so-common ingredients and are generally more time consuming, but for people who love cooking and want to level up their plant-based cooking game, this is the cookbook for you!

4. For GF, Oil-Free Recipes – The Plant-Based Cookbook

This cookbooks is fantastic for people who are looking to reduce the amount of oil they use in cooking or for people who are gluten-free! This may be a health-focused cookbook, but there is no sacrifice in terms of flavor – all the recipes are flavorful and delicious! In fact, the author of this book is a certified holistic nutritionist and pharmacist who designed all the recipes with balance and health in mind, but also wanted to show people how truly delicious healthy plant-based eating can be. This plant-based cookbook also includes lots of information on how to follow a whole-food plant-based diet in a healthy, balanced way as well as tips and tricks for people who are just getting started.

5. The All-Rounder – The Complete Plant-Based Cookbook

For those of you who want a one and done type cookbook, this is the one for you! With over 500 recipes spanning all sorts of difference cuisines, this plant-based cookbook covers all your bases. Trust me, all the recipes in this book are absolutely divine and the majority are very easy and quick to make. Just a quick little note that some recipes include dairy or eggs but they offer suggestions for replacements and most are completely vegan.
